I have visited Bon Appetit Café and Creperie in Fairfield a few times since it opened. Each time I went - there was no wait to get seated, which suited me just fine. I made a mental note to myself that this is the perfect place for a quick yet delicious bite to eat when on a time crunch.
Imagine my surprise when I went there last week with my uncle and aunt and the place was packed! We were told that it will take about 10-15 minutes to get seated. Alas! This little gem is no longer a secret from all Fairfield County residents. :-(
The restaurant serves very authentic French bistro style food. My personal favorites are Croque Monsieur and a yummy dessert soufflé to end with a sweet memorable note.
Their Croque Monsieur is light, moist and flavorful. The soufflés are done to perfection. The best part is the decadent sauces that come with the soufflés. I think my favorite is the Grand Mariner soufflé. You have got to try it! Très savoureux!
We were in the mood for some French Onion Soup. It was delicious. Perfect, light oniony soup broth, with a nice airy piece of bread soaking in all the flavors of the soup, topped with melted Gruyere cheese! We could not stop until the last drop was gone….literally!
My aunt ordered the salmon, a special of the day. What a great choice! It was perfectly cooked Salmon with a light yet crispy skin on top sitting on a white wine based sauce with mashed potatoes on the side. A bite of this dish and you know that the chef really knows his stuff!
