So a couple days ago, I got this tweet from my dear and very sweet friend Michelle Weber (owner of Cocoa Michelle). Now …. those few amongst you, who really REALLY know me – understand how much this tweet meant to me. Michelle is one of those few. And of course, her tweet had me running to the store!
Cocoa Michelle at Main Street, Westport used to be my favorite place ever! I was there every week…with any friends or family in town for a visit. I loved the ambiance. I loved that little whimsical yet inviting shop adorned with gorgeous handmade truffles and tons of other irresistible goodies. Most of all I loved Michelle and her staff because they all knew me well and understood my cravings….deeply. While every single truffle Michelle (in the back of her store) made was amazing, the one truffle flavor that I craved all the time was lavender. I had never tried lavender flavored truffles until I discovered Michelle’s store and once I did – it was love at first bite!
Have you ever been to that old Cocoa Michelle location? If you have, there is one other thing there that, like me, you may never ever forget…. The Euro Cocoa. What a decadent and absolutely heavenly concoction that was. That thick rich liquid chocolate was like elixir to me (they still have it at the new location – so go get!). I had made sure that all my friends, family members as well as my then-boss knew that it was a sure-fire way to keep me happy. (Yup! That’s how it’s done my friends)
A few years ago, Michelle closed the shop on Main Street and shifted all her attention to the new store across from the Westport train station. I have to confess, that once they moved there – I have not visited as often as I would like. This coffee shop location is so perfect for the commuters yet it always has a steady stream of visitors. I love that they thoughtfully posted the train schedule on a black board so none of their customers miss the train and are always mindful of it as they process orders. There is also a wonderful selection of coffees, exotic teas, cappuccino, baked goods (delivered daily from Balthazar bakery in NYC) and so much more. With my coffee, I love the almond croissant from Balthazar bakery – but one has to get to Cocoa Michelle by 8AM to get some or they are all gone!
Eclectic in its décor, this location immediately transports you into a world far far away (where people really love their cuppa). Michelle has always made sure that her shops make you feel welcome and at ease. There is ample seating inside as well as outside. Order your favorite coffee or tea, turn on your laptop or watch the world rush by – while you relax for as long as your heart desires.
If you haven’t already, you must visit this little gem of Westport. Don’t forget to walk all the way to the back of store to check out the yummy truffles. And if you see Michelle, be sure to say “Hi”!
