A Gem Of New York – The Spotted Pig

They are synonymous with culinary greatness and innovation.  All foodies on a perpetual quest for amazing food MUST savor the taste of chef Bloomfield’s talent at The Spotted Pig.  Why?  After all, just last week she won James Beard Regional Chef Award, Northeast.  She has been named Food & Wine’s Best New Chef.  And The Spotted Pig has earned and proudly held one Michelin Star for six consecutive years.  Are those reasons enough?

source I have been dying to try this chef’s food for a long time. No matter how many articles I may read- I knew I will not be able to comprehend this phenomenon until I taste the food for myself.  And as soon as I heard about Chef Bloomfield James Beard award – my desire became more immediate.  I was fearful that once the word spreads – it may get that much harder to get in.  So off I went.

farmacia viagra generico 50 mg a Firenze The Spotted Pig is now 10 years old.  Reservations are usually not accepted (although they are currently accepting reservations for a limited time in celebration of their 10 year anniversary), so I was prepared to wait my turn.  All good things come to those who wait, they say.  To my delight I was seated right away.  Not only that, I got the best seat in the house.  Right smack in the middle of the restaurant, overlooking the bar with all the action around me.

My only regret was that I went there by myself and couldn’t possibly order one of each dish – trust me I really wanted to!  Everyone RAVES about the burger on this menu…. I was afraid that one burger would ruin my appetite for other things.  It looked huge!  But damn it looked good.  Maybe next time….

follow site The Burrata with sauteed wild mushrooms on toast was calling my name as soon as I laid eyes on the menu.  I had to have it.  It was exceptionally good.  I loved the earthiness of the mushrooms contrasting with the creamy burrata.  The rustic, grilled and crunchy toast created the perfect backdrop for this dish.  It was one of those dishes that screams, “Here I am”!

http://cinziamazzamakeup.com/?x=dove-comprare-vardenafil-originale-20-mg The Pork Rillette was another winner.  The super creamy and amazingly moist texture of the rillette blanketed by pork fat had accents of salty and floral notes.  I could not stop taking bites of this dish in my quest to figure out what herbs and spices went into it to create that kind of magic.

And finally, I just had to have the Gnudi in Sage Brown Butter Sauce.  OMG!  Unbelievably light and airy texture of this sheep’s-milk-ricotta-filled ball of goodness is worth all the praise I had heard until now.  That dish alone is a testament to the incredible talent of this chef.  They say chef Bloomfield single-handedly put Gnudi on everyone’s radars.  And I believe it.

The Spotted Pig is a truly charming little gem in the gorgeous west village neighborhood of New York.  With friendly faces, unbelievably innovative menu offering seasonal British and Italian dishes, hip and trendy vibe- reminiscent of a lively pub in England, this is a must-visit NYC destination.

  1. I agree The Spotted Pig is amazing. The food is simple but so well sourced, cooked and served that it is mind blowing. I’ve been several times already. I am trying to make my way through the entire menu!

I'd love to know what you think....
