So excited to have accidentally stumbled across a very new and very exciting spot in Stamford. Launching with a soft-open this week, Kathi N’ More brings to Fairfield County’s culinary landscape a much-loved Indian street food called Kati Rolls.

What is a Kati Roll? It’s a punch of Indian flavors and spices combined with your choice of meats and vegetables, all wrapped up in thick Indian bread which is coated with a layer of egg on the inside, oh! and a dab of Indian chutney for good measure. Moist and delicious, this is a fail-safe and super-scrumptious formula.

Kati N’ More, a fast food destination, is brought to us by Nitesh, one of the co-owners of the now-closed Chinese Mirch in Stamford. It is bound to give you an authentic Indian experience when you visit. At this time the menu offers about 12-13 options for Kati Roll fillings along with some customizing possibilities. Feel free to ask for extra chutney on the side or extra spicy kati rolls (if you are so bold).

Another part of the menu is a yummy selection of the ice cream flavors - popular in India. Like Mango, Malai Kulfi or Chickoo (a fruit not well-known in the US). You can even get these flavors transformed into ice cream shakes. Nitesh tells me Chickoo is the most popular thus far.

For a casual take-out and eat-in place, I found the prices to be quite reasonable. I tried Anda Fry Roll (“Anda” means egg in Hindi) , Chicken Tikka Roll, Lamb Kebab Roll and Shami Kebab Roll. Each unique in flavor and each pretty good. I loved the proportion of bread to the goodness stuffed inside. Together they created great balance. Personally, I will always ask for extra chutney on the side - because I enjoyed this delicate, home-made concoction that Nitesh and his wife perfected after many attempts in their home-kitchen. It is made fresh every day at Kati N’ More.

Nitesh has plans to introduce a few more items on the menu is a month or so…. Think Indian style burgers and tacos as well as chicken, lamb or beef over rice. Yum!
