…the result is extraordinarily delicious!
Lately, I have been obsessed with food trucks (God help me!!!). It’s partly because I am so excited that Fairfield County food scene is finally catching up to this not-so-new nationwide trend. But mostly, it is because the last few food trucks that I have tried have been phenomenal in their own way. From Christophe’s Crepes in Fairfield, to Caseus Cheese truck that visited Westport, to Melt Mobile in Stamford….they all have food worthy of our reverence!
Following my friends at OmNomCT on Twitter, I have been hearing about how this amazing food truck serving lobster rolls is starting to roll into the Rowayton farmers market every Friday from Noon to 5PM. I had been meaning to check out the Rowayton farmers market anyway, so I decided to kill two birds with one stone.
The farmers market has a very pretty setting along the water. Shady trees make it very inviting on a warm summer day like today. Farm, fresh vegetables, decadent baked goods, Skinny Pines pizza. And the sight of the LobsterCraft food truck at the far corner under the shady trees is indeed the most delightful sight of all!
There were a few choices of lobster rolls. Feeling ambitious, I did not want to go for a traditional style of roll today. The spicy roll on the menu looked enticing…not something you would expect in a lobster roll, since most lobster rolls tend to be light on seasonings so that the natural flavor of the lobster comes through. I was extremely curious to see how they manage to keep the integrity of a lobster as they add a spicy kick to it.
Let me tell you that this spicy roll did not disappoint. First let’s talk about the roll itself. Light, airy and soft, it was grilled ever so slightly to create a very delicate crunch in your bite. And as soon as I took the first bite I noticed the distinct buttery flavor that we all expect and love when it comes to eating lobsters. The lobster meat itself was succulent, juicy and perfectly cooked. I am truly amazed that a food truck is able to produce such high quality cooked lobster. The spicy seasoning was so delicate and yet spicy at the same time. It managed to keep the integrity of the flavor of the lobster and raise it a few bars in flavor. I had some spicy slaw to go with it….perfection!!!
My only regret is that, I gorged it too soon. :-( But, I guess there will always be a next time

I love the idea of food trucks! I wish I lived closer to the city sometimes..so I could enjoy a few. Although I am not sure I would find many gluten-free food trucks. There is an idea.:)
Hey! You never know!
