Busy day at work? Feel like taking a break and going out for lunch? Need something fast? And definitely something good? Love seafood? Well….. I have the perfect answer for you!
Fjord Fish Market in Cos Cob, Connecticut.
I have visited there a few times in the past couple of months. It is Fairfield county’s premier fish market – well known for its quality and fresh seafood offering premium and responsibly-sourced seafood. How perfect that they also offer prepared as well as made-to-order foods – complete with party platters as well as lunch options and take home family dinners. Of course they cater!
I love that if I am in the area and I feel like eating a Lobster Roll (hot or cold)….. they will cook the lobster – right on the spot. You do need to allow about 20 minutes or so for this option.
I have tried their delicious and fresh Sushi – which is constantly getting prepared by sushi chefs on hand. The decadent Lobster Bisque is loaded with rich and creamy goodness along with wonderful depths of flavor. There are usually 3-4 types of soups on the menu each day.
The Fish Tacos are divine! The white fish is so fresh and of course freshly fried… it’s flaky goodness with the right touch of crunchy exterior is hard to miss – even though its wrapped in softest and lightest three-corn-tacos. I couldn’t resist showing you a close up of the piece of fish inside in my lead shot. So beautiful! The order comes with 3 tacos and it was an ample portion for my lunch. There is a layer of pico de gallo inside the taco but it does not seem to be seasoned too heavily. After all, its all about the beautiful fish inside. So, if you like heat, be sure to squeeze some fresh lime juice on top and ask for some Tobasco sauce on the side.
I enjoyed the beautiful flavors of lightly grilled Ahi Tuna Sandwich on a light brioche roll with slaw and wasabi mayo. There is a beautiful artistry in making sure that the fish and its flavor shine through even if the dish is composed with ingredients like wasabi mayo. Yum!
There are so many more things to try at Fjord Fish Market…. the Whole Belly Clam Roll, the Crispy Fish Sandwich, the seafood dinner options, the dinner baskets of fried oysters or fried clams or fish and chips….oh, my!
Fjord Fish Markets are also located in Westport and New Canaan. The one is Westport does not have kitchen facilities so their options of prepared foods are limited. I have yet to vist the one in New Canaan – so can’t really report on that yet.
One tip: If you are short on time, I suggest calling them ahead of time and placing your order…That way it be ready for pickup when you arrive. It works beautifully on my busy work days.
