Little Goose Big Flavors

This newcomer made me do a double-take with its unusual flavor pairings and bold menu choices. A relatively small space overflowing with charm and character, Little Goose in Fairfield is far from the dull and the ordinary.

It was good to meet up with my bestie H.A. after weeks! We had so much catching up to do, and we totally knew that we would be talking non-stop throughout lunch. Jobs. Life. Family. Gossip ... so much ground to cover!

Little did we … Continue Reading ››

The Ramen-Pho Conundrum!!

Ramen or Pho? Pho or Ramen? The questions kept buzzing in my head as soon as I settled down to order and eat at Mecha Noodle Bar in Fairfield. What shall I order? Everything looks so very tempting on this menu with plenty of versions of Pho as well as Ramen to choose from. Over the years, both Pho and Ramen have stolen my heart. I find it really hard to say “No”, if I see either of them on any menu. So when I come across a menu that offers them both - Well! then, what I … Continue Reading ››

I Shook Hands With Alice Waters!

... now that I have your attention, let me tell you all about it. Last week I had the rare privilege to attend an intimate conversation with Alice Waters of the famous Chez Panisse restaurant in Berkley CA. This was an event with only 100 some people hosted by the Hudson Union Society in NYC. My friend, KW, is a member and that’s how I got invited.

Alice Waters is a pioneer, an activist, a believer, a forward thinker and a fabulous chef all rolled into in one petite, beautiful frame. I had first heard of … Continue Reading ››

Weeknights Made Easy!

I recently started a new job and all of a sudden life has become totally crazy! Full day in a fast-paced work environment. Long, slow, traffic-ridden commutes - mornings and evenings. Total mental and physical exhaustion. After all that, the last thing I want to think about is- putting dinner on the table. Sure, I can simplify my stress and order take-out - but I always worry about how unhealthy that lifestyle tends to be. Besides, do I really want to order-in EVERY night?!!! Nah! Wouldn’t it be lovely if my magical foodie-fairy would just drop in every evening- prepare a wonderful, … Continue Reading ››

My New Favorite Chinese Place!

Ahhhmazing!!!!

I loved the spicy, sweet, peanutty, tangy, flavors married with incredible textural contrasts and and super-moist bites, after bites after bites! What a find! Lao Sze Chuan in Milford CT is really a must-do for everyone who would like to know what Chinese food should taste like.

I went there for lunch with my gal-pal Archie. While it was just the two of us, we had an unspoken understanding that we WILL be ordering a lot of food - to get a really comprehensive experience of what this restaurant is all about. And so we ordered. And … Continue Reading ››

Flavor Fest!

Wow! I can’t believe that last weekend was my first taste of Coalhouse Pizza in Stamford! How come I did not know about this place? How could this super-fun menu, be hidden from this foodie, for this long?!!!

A warm, welcoming, family-friendly place, Coalhouse offers an amazing variety of pizzas with ingredient combinations that you may never think of. I loved how everything I tried was a flavor-blast in my mouth.

My honey and I were so excited when as we started to read the amazing selection of toppings... to the point that we found it … Continue Reading ››

Killing FOUR Birds With One Stone!

... that’s what I felt I accomplished when I attended a fabulous afternoon party hosted by Henri’s Reserve (champagne purveyors) in the beautiful and artistic setting of Southport Galleries, Southport CT.

The lovely and charming owner of Henri’s Reserve, Ruth, invited me to attend a celebration of Global Champagne Day featuring boutique champagnes produced by small family estates - made the old-fashioned way! She planned this celebration exquisitely with delicious artisanal champagne tastings, paired with four of its most perfect compliments: desserts, chocolates, cheese and bread!

I admitted to Ruth that I … Continue Reading ››

Two Culinary Masters, In One Kitchen

A wonderful evening at Thali, New Canaan, just blew me away! Chef Prasad Chirnomula invited his dear friend and celebrity chef (judge on Chopped), Maneet Chauhan, to cook with him. And to my delight, chef Prasad invited me to come earlier and spend time with him and Maneet in the kitchen. It was the most fun I have had in a long while.

I have savored chef Prasad’s culinary delights many times, and I AM a fan. I had never met Maneet before, but I have watched her on Chopped and really admired the grasp of culinary … Continue Reading ››

Love On A Spoon

I don’t know why, but I never think about the town of Ridgefield as a foodie destination, when I am looking for a restaurant in Fairfield county. Never heard anyone rave about any dining establishments up there.... except for Bernard’s, of course. And so I always assumed that there was not much worth exploring up there.

Then, a couple of my blogger pals started mentioning Bailey’s Backyard on Twitter (talking about you, Renato and Alicia Ghio!). They celebrated an anniversary there and seemed to really like it. And, that’s how Bailey’s Backyard in Ridgefield got on my … Continue Reading ››
