Step Aside And Fork It Over!

I was in a state of frenzy! Excited and restless - to take it all in….. all at one time, if possible. Too anxious about missing something un-missable! I wanted to shout out, “Step Aside And Fork It Over”!!!

Those were my true feelings the whole time I was at the “Fork It Over” brunch hosted by three phenomenal Westport based businesses: The Whelk, Fleisher’s Craft Butchery and Saugatuck Grain & Grape. The event was to raise funds for the Westport Farmer’s Market - an organization I truly admire because it brings pure … Continue Reading ››

Say Hello To Latin-Nikkei Cuisine at Aji10

So what on earth is Latin-Nikkei cuisine? Who started this? How did it come to be? Wait….. is this a typo?

Nope! No typos. Latin-Nikkei cuisine actually exists. It’s a phenomenon founded in Peru… a latin country with apparently a lot of Japanese immigrants. The result of which is a fusion….. a dynamic marriage of two culinary cultures….. giving birth to a very unique and a very unexpected flavor profile…. christened the “Latin-Nikkei” cuisine.

I was as surprised, as you probably are now, to hear this. Until recently I had never heard anyone mention this type … Continue Reading ››

How perfect that they also offer prepared as well as made-to-order foods - complete with party platters as well as lunch options … Continue Reading ››

Shanghai Gourmet, Westport: Tried & True

With the constant buzz and hype (on the internet, social media and in personal conversations) about “what’s new” in the ever-changing culinary scene around us - some of us self-proclaimed foodies get so focused on trying to catch up!. So much so, that it is easy to overlook the tried and true staples that have been around for years. They are right here under our noses. They have never failed us. They see us running around from one restaurant opening to the next wine-dinner to the next food festival - and all the while they patiently wait for … Continue Reading ››

How Many Ways Shall I Enjoy My Lobstah!

I just couldn’t say “No” to a recent invitation to check out the updated menu at LobsterCraft in Darien. I have followed captain Mike all over Fairfield county since he first started his business in a food truck. He has since expanded with a brick and mortar location in Darien as well as his first location in New York city (1 Penn Plaza). I love LobsterCraft and its creative menu - and judging by captain Mike’s recent business expansion, I am obviously not the only one who feels that way.

The menu is getting better … Continue Reading ››

Yummy Mexican Tacos On The Go!

The bright yellow Mexican food truck in Norwalk at the intersection of North Ave and Main St always seems to be there. Always surrounded by tons of parked cars and groups of people (mostly hispanic) eagerly waiting for their order to be ready. Some are there on a lunch break with their co-workers and some are there with their wives and kids.

What does that tell me? That the food must be authentic. And one day when I finally pulled up my car to try a few dishes from El Azteca food truck… well! It looked authentic … Continue Reading ››
